Nordmin Engineering Ltd. is presently looking to add to our Mechanical Engineering group and is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the following position:

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY

The successful applicant will be working primarily in the mining industry on surface infrastructure and mineral processing projects. This candidate will be the lead on mechanical design projects from conception through completion. They will be responsible to guide and mentor junior engineers as well as perform detailed design calculations and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare plans, designs, and calculations for construction projects or studies.
  • Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement and installation.
  • Lead a team of Designers and Engineers to develop design concepts and progress through detailed design.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers to foster their professional growth and development.
  • Contribute to the delivery of multidiscipline engineering design by coordinating with other disciplines on design requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and design reviews both internally and with clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, fostering repeat business opportunities.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Occasional travel to site for client meetings (10%).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. PE in the United States is an asset.
  • Prior experience working with an engineering consulting firm, equipment vendors, or mining companies on mining or mineral processing projects.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
