SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
JOB SUMMARY
In this Senior Engineering role, you will lead structural teams — including EITs, Design Engineers, and Drafters — on projects ranging from conceptual through to construction. You will be relied upon to act in a leadership capacity to guide, mentor, and develop junior staff while collaborating with senior management to advance the business objectives of the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead focused structural and multidisciplinary technical teams in completing design work for mining and industrial projects.
- Complete estimates of hours, deliverables, and resource requirements, and develop project schedules.
- Work with Structural Department management to assess strategic requirements, workflows, and personnel needs.
- Provide technical oversight, input, and mentorship to structural staff.
- Lead the development of structural designs including calculations, analysis, seismic design and evaluation, and the writing of technical and construction specifications.
- Ensure clear communications between disciplines and with the management team throughout project delivery.
- Undertake site visits, inspections, and assessments, working closely with clients to ensure full and proper delivery of services. Travel will form approximately 10% of time demands for this role.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States. Eligibility to obtain licensure in additional US states is an asset. Canadian P.Eng. registration is a plus.
- 15+ years of experience in engineering design and management of structural systems for industrial applications.
- Excellent knowledge of structural theory, US building codes, and design standards (concrete, structural steel, wood, masonry).
- Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as S-FRAME or equivalent.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering deliverables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to working professionally with all colleagues and clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
