Nordmin Engineering Ltd. is presently looking to add to our Structural Engineering group and is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the following position:
STRUCTURAL DESIGNER
JOB SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for the preparation of structural designs and drawings using AutoCAD/Revit and ensuring that design drawings conform to the developed engineering designs and code requirements. The individuals in this role will create and coordinate Building Information Models (BIM) for project design and construction using knowledge of construction processes and applicable building codes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and prepare structural designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, and engineering designs and sketches.
- Create 3-dimensional BIM models in Revit.
- Utilize BIM to analyze and optimize potential design solutions.
- Read and interpret existing engineering drawings.
- Check and verify design drawings for conformance with specifications and design data.
- Assist in compiling Material Take-offs from design models for estimating support.
- Be accountable to Project Engineers for model/drawing production and quality.
- Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Maintain current knowledge of National and Provincial building codes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Engineering Technician or Technologist diploma in civil engineering, drafting, architecture or equivalent, or extensive experience in lieu of.
- Experience working with Revit/BIM modeling.
- Experience with Navisworks and developing animations for presentations is an asset.
- Construction and/or site experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
